For many illnesses, your local pharmacist can provide free help and advice and where needed medication to assist you.  By visiting your local pharmacist, you could save yourself time as no appointment is required and you can visit at a time that is convenient for you!

Bites and stings, hayfever and skin reactions

Cough, congestion, sore throat, fever and/or temperature

Earache, ear wax and ear infection

Eye Care
Bacterial conjunctivitis and styes

Stomach Aches
Constipation, diarrhoea, haemorrhoids, indigestion, reflux, threadworm and vomiting

Any skin or mouth problem
Athletes foot, chickenpox, cold sores, contact dermatitis, fungal nail infections, nappy rash, scabies, skin rashes, vaginal thrush, warts and verrucae

Additional Information

  • If you do not normally pay for your medicines, then you do not need to pay for treatment with Think Pharmacy First.
  • To get free treatment you will need to sign a prescription and declaration issued to you by the pharmacist.
  • There are 39 pharmacies in South Tyneside (17 open on Saturdays and 3 open on a Sunday).

  • If your condition is more serious, the pharmacist will refer you to your GP.
