The Electronic Prescription Services (EPS) is an NHS service which gives you the chance to change how you get your prescription from your GP practice.
If you collect your repeat prescription from your GP practice you will no longer have to do this. Instead, your GP will send your repeat prescription electronically to the pharmacy you choose, saving you time. This could be a pharmacist near to where you live, work or shop.
If you have a stable condition and do not want to go your GP practice every time to collect your repeat prescription this service could suit your needs. However, if you do not get prescriptions very often or have your prescriptions dispensed from different places then this service may not be right for you.
How can you use EPS?
You need to choose a place for your GP practice to electronically send your prescription to. This is called a nomination. You can chose:
- A pharmacy.
- A dispensing appliance contractor (if you use one).
- Ask your chosen pharmacy which offers EPS to add your nomination for you.
Can I change my nomination?
Yes. If at any time you wish to change the pharmacy you collect your medications from, advise your new pharmacy of this and they will update your choice on their system.
If you wish to revert back to collecting your paper prescriptions from your GP practice, please inform either you chosen pharmacy or contact our reception staff and your nomination request can be removed.
